Why Licensed Home Health Care

There are several companion agencies that can provide sitter services for people, but their caregivers are unable to do any hands-on care legally.   All caregivers in a licensed agency are certified Home Health Aides (HHAs) or Personal Care Aides (PCAs).  These aides have been trained to be caring for clients and are required to participate in continuing education to maintain their certifications.

Also, it is required by the New York State Health Department that all aides be fingerprinted to verify they are legally cleared to work with people that may not be able to advocate for themselves.

We know that determining a home care option for your loved one is an incredibly personal and tough decision.  Working with a Licensed Home Care Agency can be extremely beneficial for many reasons.

  • First, it brings peace of mind that your loved one is being cared for by licensed professionals with complete background checks.
  • Second, Licensed Home Care agencies can work along with Hospice but companion agencies are not able to work with them. If you don’t want to have to change agencies in the future, it’s best to start off with an agency that can be with your loved one right along their entire journey.
  • Finally, most long term care insurance companies are now only reimbursing for services provided by a Licensed Home Care Agency and not Companion Agencies.  If you plan on utilizing long term care insurance either now or in the future, you would be wise to work with a Licensed Home Care Agency so you don’t need to switch to another agency.

As a Licensed Home Care Agency, Changing Seasons Home Care makes sure that your loved one's hands-on needs are met.
